Most likely, the fuser (heating unit) paper sensor flag was broken when the paper was removed. This happens 90% of the time and would be the reason why the amber light it showing non-stop. It would be easier to get a new machine at this point since the time required to repair the printer would outweigh just picking up a new printer.
